The Twelves: Episode II

http://discodust.com/images/the-twelves-episode-ii.jpg

Rio's dope boys, The Twelves, have come correct with another dirty dozen. This one's a teensy bit less dancy than their first installment, but it's equally entertaining and pretty spectacular in its own right. Once again, they've chosen 12 viciously hip tracks, mixing them together with ease and sophistication. Of all the peeps remixing tunes these days, there are few who are more meticulous and thoughtful than The Twelves.

Enjoy the particularly big Twelves Replays -- all 6 are top flight. "Reckoner," "White Winter Hymnal," and "Dance Dance Dance" stood out for me.

And be sure to check out The Twelves' jam sessions! They dudes don't just spin...

the twelves - episode ii (mixtape)

Tracklist:

01. zeigeist - humanitarianism (the twelves replay)
02. radiohead - reckoner (the twelves replay)
03. mirwais - naive song
04. of montreal - gronlandic edit
05. david e. sugar - to yourself
06. the virgins - rich girls (the twelves replay)
07. daft punk - voyager
08. jupiter - chip
09. fleet foxes - white winter hymnal (the twelves replay)
10. metronomy - heartbreaker
11. the twelves - works for me (the twelves replay)
12. lykke li - dance dance dance (the twelves replay)

Extra large thank you to Discodust for disseminating the tunage.

Back on Top

After a long stint at #2, Amherst is back on top.

Mini Golf at the Walker Art Center

I'm at home in Minneapolis for 10 days. Today I played mini golf on the Artist Designed Mini Golf course at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. Each hole is a sculpture designed by a different artist. Obstacles included dozens of dangling water bottles, a sculptures of Theodore Roosevelt and Paul Bunyon (think wilderness conservation), and pinball machine powered by an old bicycle that you got to pedal on.

Our group included a '96 Junior League alumnus (me), an '03 Junior Club Champion (Lindsay, photographed with her trophy right), and a National Park Ranger (Neal). Naturally, the game got competitive. I got third place, shooting 28 (I had a lot of stroke penalties, and one dangerous fore), Lindsay got 2nd place shooting a 22, and Neal got 1st place shooting a 21.

The last hole (below left) was a cylinder whose mirrored top appeared to have an oddly shaped hole. If you look at the hole from the correct angle and bend down a little bit, you could see that the hole was actually a monkey's silhouette whose eyes were made up of holes on the side of they cylinder. Not sure if that makes sense, but it was pretty rad. If you got a hole in one on that hole you'd get to hear a chiming melody (which I did).

Red.

The Red ONE camera (pictured above) captures footage at a blistering 120 frames per second, creating those stunning images you see in the movies. It's the latest project from Oakley founder Jim Jannard, a photo and video buff with an eye for innovation and a lotta bills. The Red ONE is professional grade (Soderbergh, Peter Jackson, Doug Liman use it) and retails for $17,500 -- cost prohib. The good news, for all you aspiring auteurs, is that a $3000 version, the Red Scarlet, will drop next year.

Jeff Koons Yacht & Norman Foster Signature Series Yacht

Guilty Yacht by Jeff Koons

highsnobiety - Guilty Yacht Designed By Jeff Koons

Art superstar Jeff Koons has landed another hit, and designed his first yacht. The"Guilty", owned by art collector Dakis Joannou, features an extravagant artistic take by the US artist on the exterior.

(via High Snobiety)

Norman Foster Signature Series Yacht by Evan Orensten

features-img.jpg
40-signature-series-yacht.jpg

Designed by renowned architect Norman Foster, built by prize-winning boat-maker Rodriquez Cantieri Navali in Italy and exclusive to YachtPlus (a fractional ownership program), the 40 Signature Series is both an unparalleled vessel and comes with a cost well below ownership. The benefits of the design and the program are many — from eliminating the hassle of maintainance and management (YachtPlus employs a staff of six) to a layout that offers 30% more indoor and outdoor space than any other yacht, it's a smart approach to luxury.

The impressive four-tiered design stems from Norman Foster's consideration of "such issues as quality and quantity of space, outdoor terraces, light and views" and allows for both the staff acomodations as well as room for 10 guests. Features like forward-looking views from all four decks, two balconies in the master suite and spacious rooms and saloons that take into account the needs of children and families offer far more appeal than the more sleek-looking counterparts out there.

spec-img2.jpg

Not that the overall profile of the 132-foot yacht is anything to complain about. The grand staircase uniting the four levels offers a stunning design element, as do the floor-to-ceiling windows which lend an unusual appearance for a boat. See more images of exteriors and interiors, as well as design illustrations, after the jump.

Weekly rates start at about €80,000 but the eight shares for the first boat have already been snatched up. Contact YachtPlus to inquire about future boats in the fleet.

New GZA "Pro Tools"

GZA's compilation album Pro Tools has dropped and I like what I hear. The album title is a reference to the fact that he doens't need pro tools to drop dope beats that are classic....which is the kind of hip-hop I like. And (per usg) GZA lyricism is superb.

Download: GZA, "Alphabets"
Download: GZA f. RZA, "Life Is A Movie"

And if you haven't seen it here's brilliant scene from Jim Jarmusch's 2003 masterpiece "Coffee and Cigarettes", a series of 11 vignettes with only coffee&cigarettes in common. Below you'll find the installment featuring Bill Murray, RZA and GZA talking it out in a cafe. (Jack and Meg of The White Stripes, Cate Blanchett, Steve Coogan and Alfred Molina also appear in other installments of the film. )

Rolling Stones Rarities

Everyone knows and loves the Stones' classic hits. I've heard them all a million times and even though I'll admit that I'll often flip by "Brown Sugar" when I hear it on classic rock radio, these songs will always have a time and place in the unfolding epic that is my life...which is funny 'cuz I wasn't even around at the time these songs had a real context.

That said, one of the great things about the Stones, and I guess a lot of those British Invasion groups (i.e. the Who, Kinks, Beatles, etc.), is that their catalogs of material are serious mines of musical pleasure--the deeper you go, the more your respect and adoration for the group grows. Digging through my CD collection yesterday, I came across a Stones box set collection of their singles through 1971, the year they left Decca/London Records (Decca in England, London stateside) and moved on to bigger, and, in my humble opinion, less impressive things. While the collection indeed features almost all of their more well-known songs (i.e. "Street Fighting Man," "Honky Tonk Women," etc.), and a fair amount of their mid-60's hits (i.e. "19th Nervous Breakdown," "Paint It Black"), the defining attraction of the box set for me is the abundance of deep cuts/rarities, mostly in the form of B-sides.

I've done the dirty work and collected them all for you here and now, so enjoy, and make sure to take a minute to revel in how cool you are after you download these guys.

All songs are off of The Rolling Stones Singles Collection: The London Years.

Rolling Stones- "Come On"
A Chuck Berry cover, this song is the first single the Stones ever released. Although short, the song packs a great early rock 'n' roll punch. Love this one.

Rolling Stones- "Stoned"
Here's a bluesy instrumental number, much in the same vein as a Booker T. & the MG's tune. The song is credited to a certain "Nanker Phelge"--a pseudonym created for all of the Stones' early original compositions.

Rolling Stones- "Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man"
Bill Wyman: "The Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man was a good-natured jibe at George Sherlock, the London Records promo man who accompanied us on our first American tour. The track is based on Buster Brown's 1960 hit, Fannie Mae, which also inspired the Beach Boys' Help Me Rhonda."

Rolling Stones- "Gotta Get Away"
Along with "Come On" and "Memo From Turner" this one competes for best of the bunch.

Rolling Stones- "Memo From Turner"
This one was originally released as a Jagger solo track...and, in true Jagger form, it's got fantastic sneerin' & drawlin' vocals. Scorsese also featured the song in Goodfellas during a Ray Liotta coke binge.

Rolling Stones- "The Singer Not the Song"

Rolling Stones- "Long, Long While"

Rolling Stones- "Who's Driving Your Plane"

Rolling Stones- "Surprise, Surprise"

Rolling Stones- "Out of Time"

Nike Design: Manny Bernardez

Check out the work of Nike design director Manny Bernardez. Had no clue what was up with these pics when I first came across them, but apparently they are intended to visually/dynamically represent the customization process of NikeID...huh. Artistic vagueness aside, they are certainly a visual delight, and the guy's portfolio, which can be viewed online at smalldeer.com, is worth a quick spin.

Klondike Bar Video Contest

Whether or not this helps drive revenue for the Klondike Co is TBD / not the point. Klondike's just lookin to ride a meme like the rest of us.

The UGV contest idea has been done before and rarely does it result in anything more than a couple hundred numa numa renditions. But at least one really great thing has come out of theis contest: Andy Samberg's entry. Give that man his 25K and let's be done with it.

Hat tip to Adi in Zurich for the find.

Phil Collins Serious Hits - Easy Lover

A few nights ago Lizzie, Buck Dancer and I were hanging out, eating Buttercup cupcakes, drinking some vino, and so on. Buck Dancer popped in Phil Collins "Serious Hits...Live!", and before I knew it I was on my knees watching Phil sing "Easy Lover" (clip below). Lizzie and I have decided that we simply MUST learn the choreography from the DVD, but we need a third person. Any takers????

Glen Baxter

Avid New Yorker reader that I am -- er, rather, aspire to be-- I was happy to learn more about Glen Baxter, longtime cartoonist for the NYer & Vanity Fair. Per Wikipedia, "Baxter was born in Leeds in 1944 and trained at the Leeds College of Art. His images, and their corresponding captions, fuse art and language inspired by pulp fiction and adventure comics with intellectual jokes and references. Baxter's simple line-drawings often feature cowboys, gangsters, explorers, and schoolchildren, who utter incongruous intellectual statements regarding art and philosophy."

You can check out a bunch of his work at GlenBaxter.com. I came across some choice pieces at the online outpost of the Adam Baumgold Gallery (74 East 79th St NYC). Definitely worth a jaunt this weekend for an in-person perusal.

I wonder how he works through these pieces. Does he come up with the drawing first? The caption? Hrrrmmm...

Olympic Fever

Chinese luxury retailer Lane Crawford commissioned 12 fashion designers to design Olympic uniforms for their favorite sport.  If the archery and fencing uniforms looked like those below (designed by Givenchy and Alexander McQueen) I would have been much more inclined to learn/follow the sport.

Stella McCartney | Equestrian

Givenchy | Archery

One for the Weekend

Absolute hambone of a tune put out a while back by The Bag Raiders called "Nil by Mouth". Re-edited by Knightlife, and brought to the discotecs for the hungry hungry hipsters.

Should you find yourself craving an intense electro experience this weekend, put this tune on blast, kick back and watch the ragamuffins melt. It's an intense track but softens up quite nicely around the 3:30 mark. Have a listen.

Dr. Dre: Mixtape from '86

The righteous dudes at Mad Decent posted a prehistoric mixtape from none other than the Young MD, Dr. Dre. The mix was ripped from a cassette he recorded back in '86 when he was DJing at a club.

"Peep the stethoscope, Side 01 is all ‘86 hiphop blended at an ADD pace that would take a million years even in ableton. Side 02 he puts Mr. Postman over Unknown DJ and the rest is all Electro joints. "

Yup.

Daddy Cool "Eagle Rock"

here's a killer Daddy Cool music video for "Eagle Rock" made in 1971 by Chris Lofven. Two of my best buds from Minneapolis, Alli & Charley, are in New York tonight and I can hardly wait to see them...this video will serve as the inspiration for our night together.

Do It Twice: Moulinex & Pineapples

Moulinex's cover version of Pineapples "Come On Closer" off of Buffetlibre's Rewinded Mixtape has become a de facto ML jam. I downloaded the tune around the time when the mixtape hit the blogs, and, as often happens, never really gave it a solid listen. To my misfortune, I have only now come to realize its excellence. I take particular enjoyment in the way that the dark synth bass line contrasts with the vocals..and the way it inspires visions of dancefloor grandeur.

That said, I tracked down the original Pineapples version and it's comparably disco-tastic, although I'd say the female vocals on the Moulinex cover really do it for me (I find it hard to articulate the qualities that I like in this type of voice, but a simple listening should explain all).

Given the inferiority (or just plain shittiness) of the vocals in the original version, I'm only posting the instrumental dub (sorry about the quality).

Moulinex- "Come On Closer"
Pineapples- "Come On Closer" [Instrumental Dub]

And would you believe it? The original artist had but 18 years to speak of at the time he cut this track. Here's an interview - in semi-broken English - that I tracked down:

via The Red Room.

How did you come about to produce a disco track at the tender age of 18?

Roberto: I was trying to make
music as a real job from the age of 14. At 18 when "Best Records" released "Come On Closer" it was a huge success in the italian and french clubs and radios, so i left immediately the University (i was studying architecture) to continue the job of artistic Record Producer.

Who is Douglas Roop? Contrary to most italian disco productions he has a decent accent which makes us believe he is in fact American.

Roberto: Yes, he came from Texas, in 1983 he was in Naples (my city) working as a soldier in the NATO base (south Europe Nato headquarter) in Naples.

Are you aware that "Come On Closer" was a big track in the early Chicago House scene and was of great influence to Dj's like Mickey Oliver?

Roberto: No, I absolutely don’t know nothing of this, I really LOVE this Music period and i’m really fascinated from Your info about this situation, and is funny for me remember at that time the old italian house djs always criticized my old productions “that was too commercial and euro oriented”, but the fact was that I reach the USA sales charts Billboard 3 times with my “too much euro oriented” productions, and many many times the Japanese, UK, French, Italian, Holland etc. sales and club charts.

What was the italo disco scene like for you in the 80's?

Roberto: In the 80’s - but above all in the ‘90 -, Italo Disco scene was for me a great “place” to have fun, make money, trip around the world and have a lot of good sex (with the disco club professional dancers...). Now that everything is death here in Europe, i find the same old good energy and things in the Caribbean Music scene.

Good for you! One for the gear-freaks: What equipment did you use to produce "Come On Closer"?

Roberto: Only 2 gears! An old Oberheim Drum Machine and all the sounds with my analog keyboard Korg Polysix, WITHOUT A SEQUENCER, everything played by my hand in real time. We record the project in an old and ugly studio in Naples on a 3M 24-track Tape Record Machine and an old '70 mixer made in Italy. "Come on Closer" was the first dance record success produced in Naples and in the south of Italy.

What was you motivation for recording disco tracks? We read in your bio that you also played in more aggressive punk/rock bands.

Roberto: I’ve thousands and thousands of records vinyl and cd of every kind of music, in 22 years i’ve released eurodance, house, italian hip hop, pop topseller italian Artists... maybe You remember this old song that says:... I love music, every kind of Music...

Addictive TV Olympics 2008 Remix

London DJ's Addictive TV are remixing the 2008 Olympic Games for live TV. The duo will mash up live Olympic footage with outside footage, music, visuals, and other "creative elements" in an effort to make the TV viewers experience more exciting.

Here's a little taste of what to expect: A short Addictive TV did for Adidas' latest traveling art exhibition "Sportive". All the sounds you hear are from the video clips, except for that beating heart noise.

If you're in LA and looking to have a Barack'n good time, be sure to check out BaRock the House, a benefit concert to raise money, encourage votes, and get people excited for Barack Obama. The event will feature five up-and-coming politically active bands: 80s synth-funk throwback Wallpaper; The Outline thoughtful electronic-alternative collective Oliver Future; startup indie-pop group White Arrow; and singer-songwriter Jeff Jastrow.

The concert was organized entirely by an '08 USC graduate and an '09 Trinity College student (and new friend to me....because a friend of a Lizzard is a friend indeed). Brav-obama, boys!

Get Marvel-ous

This is the guy I made on marvel.com's create-your-own-superhero. His name is Baron Von Bedlam, and he's bad...real bad. The product of a high-profile affair between two members of the German nobility, the Baron was exiled from his homeland and forced to fend for himself on the streets of NYC. The Baron was hardened by years of street gangs and petty crime, but turned to religion after a life-changing experience with an unidentified Native American drug. Given his traumatic childhood experience, he harbors an acute distaste for white-collar crime and the wrongdoings of the upper classes.

Baron Von Bedlam likes to disco dance on weekends.

Lose the jambox for a minute. The cool kids are blastin big beats on BMXs-- so says Made In Queens, a short film that chronicles this new trend among Trinidian teenagers in Queens, NY. The film documents their interest in kitting out whips with max megawatts.

Tinnitus 2

“In this age of obsessive video sharing and social networking, nearly every action is designed and packaged for public consumption. Especially with young people,” says co-director Joe Stevens. “The immediate charm of (this) crew is that they’re the exact opposite of all that. There is nothing calculated or self-conscious about who they are. They’re just a group of friends doing something to challenge themselves and have some laughs. It’s a story which would have never come from kids who were born here.”

Musical Animation

In response to ND's post featuring Mary Ellen Bute's 1940 "musical film" titled "Tantarella".

Warner Brothers 1960 Cartoon "High Note" (as seen on Looney Tunes circa 1990):

Various musical notes assemble in preparation for a performance of The Blue Danube Waltz symphony. The symphony goes awry when one musical note gets drunk, and wanders about the score. The music matches the drunk note's belligerent shenanigans. Stay toon-ed (hehe) for the "little brown jug" of joy at the end.

And one more gem: The Mushroom Dance sequence from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Suite in Fantasia, 1940. Yes, 1940 (incredible!). When is Pixar going to start making music videos?

Brian May (of Queen)'s Astrophysics Thesis

Congratulations to Brian May, the founder/lead guitarist of Queen, who just completed his doctoral thesis* in Astrophysics. May took a 30-year hiatus from his Astrophysics studies in Zodiacal light to rock out with the band.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my years playing guitar and recording music with Queen, but it's extremely gratifying to see the publication of my thesis," May said. "I've been fascinated with astronomy for years, and I was happy to finally complete my Ph.D. last year and record my studies of the Zodiacal Light in this book."

I always knew there was something magical and zodiacal about those harmonies.

*May's thesis examines the mysterious phenomenon known as Zodiacal light, a misty diffuse cone of light that appears in the western sky after sunset and in the eastern sky before sunrise. Casual observers, if they live under very dark rural skies, can best see the light two to three hours before sunrise as they look east, and many people have been fooled into seeing it as the first sign of morning twilight. A Persian astronomer who lived around the 12th century referred to it as "false dawn" in a poem. (via Space.com)

St-Germain Cocktail

One of the best nights my friend Alli and I had on our backpacking trip through western Europe back in the summer 2005 was spent at Le Bilboquet (aka "Le Temple du Jazz"), a tiny jazz club in St-Germain (think dark oak bar, rich red velvet upholstery, dim antique lighting). A friend of mine who recently spent time in Paris told me that the jazz club shutdown, which almost brings tears to my eyes. But anyway, here's a good cockail we sipped:

2 Shots Champagne* or Dry White Wine
1 ½ Shots St-Germain
2 Shots Sparkling Water or Club Soda
Method: Stir ingredients in a tall ice-filled Collins glass, mixing completely. Think of Paris circa 1947. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Variation: Think of Sartre circa 1947. Be the lemon twist.

* Or Sparkling Wine, Prosecco or Cava

Beijing's Face-Lift

china_lead.jpgBeijing's aggressive face-lift for the Olympic games includes shooting silver-iodide filled rockets into the sky to control rainfall, and feline extermination.

I knew China was undergoing a major makeover in preparation of the Olympics (air pollution comes to mind), but after watching the 60 Minutes report on Mao Tse Tung and reading this article (below) in Radar I became saddened/frightened.

I'll admit some changes are positive, like how city officials are clamping down on counterfeit products, imposing high fines for spitting on the street, and encouraging Beijingers to "adopt a more linear way of thinking" ie, forming lines (the walk down Canal Street can be KILLER on the way to work, let me tell you), but I'd say that some of the means for these changes are a bit...extreme?

CHANGE #1
Reduced traffic
To avoid unglamorous congestion, the government will allow only half of Beijing's drivers to hit the streets on any given day, depending on whether their license plates end in odd or even numbers.
CHANGE #2
Less spitting

Convincing Beijingers to repress their loogies is like convincing Americans to give up Red Lobster, but determined officials are imposing a steep fine of up to 50 yuan and mobilizing a volunteer army to "offer" tissues to defiant hockers.

CHANGE #3
Fewer felines

To reduce the city's unsightly clutter of 500,000 cats, officials have been aggressively disseminating info that cats carry diseases like SARS. As a result, panicked citizens are abandoning their beloved pets to kitty death camps—and, in the case of one overzealous kindergarten teacher, beating strays senseless.
CHANGE #4
Cloudless skies

With the opening ceremonies facing a 47 percent chance of precipitation, Chinese scientists are ready to preemptively fire silver-iodide-filled rockets into approaching clouds from 21 locations, making them rain before any important people get wet.
CHANGE #5
No knockoffs

Mindful of China's copycat reputation, officials are patrolling the streets to stamp out counterfeit products, especially those making unauthorized use of the Games logo. Already in jail: the huckster hawking fake Olympic coins and the hapless entrepreneurs who conjured up the not particularly athletic-sounding Olympic Tobacco.
CHANGE #6
Orderly lines

While most Westerners queue up patiently for movies and roller coasters, the Chinese prefer to scrum and jostle. City officials are "encouraging" Beijingers to adopt a more linear way of thinking during the Olympics (and have been training the citizenry since 2007 with a monthly Queuing Day). Line cutting will not be tolerated.
CHANGE #7
No turtle blood

Even Chinese athletes are being constrained. Though these jocks have long favored turtle blood and deer penis as quaint, organic alternatives to performance-enhancing drugs, the government is clamping down. Turns out these local delicacies may contain substances banned by the IOC.
CHANGE #8
No Chinglish

A humorless 35-person committee is correcting mangled English translations of Chinese signs and menu items ("government abuse chicken," anyone?), forcing residents to mangle English in the privacy of their own homes. (via Radar)

A visitor walks down a once historical street that belongs to Beijing's oldest neighbourhoods but has now been turned into the city's newest tourist attraction on June 17, 2008. Beijing city and local banks have poured 9.2 billion yuan (1.3 billion USD) into restoration work on Qianmen Street, they claim that their goal is to restore it to its former glory a century ago during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911), however critics have charged that the street has been turned into a Disney-style version of old China that bears little resemblence to reality. Now Counter-Clockwise

Peeps an excerpt from Michael Bay's unsolicited script for The Dark Knight, ultimately / inexplicably rejected by Warner Braz. Bay, a product of Wesleyan U, wrote a dazzling screenplay loaded with big-time action, subtle sensuality, and visionary cinematography.

Hey dummies at Warner, lemme give you a piece of advice: this movie needs to be made, EMPHATICALLY, a number of times. Forget your piddling record opening, Mike Bay has a bolder vision for the franchise-- and it starts here:

Strange Encounters (iii)

  • Last night I got mugged on 64th/Amsterdam around 10pm, thank god Meredith came to the rescue & punched the guy. It was nice that a bunch of cars/taxis driving by stopped to make sure that I was alright. Too bad the mugger got away with my iPod Shuffle, and cell phone charger (among the more notable).
  • Today on our lunch break Merkin & I walked to 88 Orchard. On our way back, just in front of the Fung Wah bus- Canal St, some thug walked up to us and started talking "smack". Something about Merkin giving him dirty looks, or not giving him enough space on the street. I told Merkin to walk away, but instead he stopped, turned around, made small talk with the thug, and then laughed in the thug's face. The thug did not like that, as he proceeded to follow us across Bowery and then two more blocks hustling Merkin and I, and then "calling his boys" on his celli. Just when things started getting hairy (ie, when I started to think about running) we were able to duck into the offices of BuzzFeed for shelter (see post below):

new yelle video! "Ce Jeu"

Yelle's new video for Ce Jeu was released exclusively on PerezHilton.com (?) but obvi leaked onto YouTube. The video is a visual delight... I really admire her use of color, like when she dressed up in all yellow and painted her body yellow match. So killer. It'd love to bop around in one of her music videos: bop around in some high tops, bust out a little tecktonik, maybe rock some neon shoe laces.
Yelle held a contest on her MySpace page for the best remix of Ce Jeu.
Here are the top two, with some commentary from Yelle (download them here). I like the Twelves remix...am a huge fan of their stuff and this yelle remix is no exception.
1. St. Andrew Remix:
Yelle Says: "I listen to it very often and I love it more and more. I would qualified it as "emo bigbeat", it s strong and nice at the same time. The synth line in the end, makes you feel like doing air-keyboard while making faces. I already know how I can dance on it !"
Ce Jeu (St.Andrew Redux) - Yelle

2. Twelves Remix
Yelle says: "The best produced remix, the mix is ace! That bouncy bass really works!"

Yelle is touring this fall: Webster Hall October 14, Roxy Theater October 15, someplace in LA in November...check out her MySpace for deets.
